Allergens
We comply with the EU Food Information for Consumers (EU FIC) Regulation No .1169/2011 in providing food allergens information for our customers.
Items on our menus may contain allergens from the list below. Our staff have information on these and other items that are not on the menus, such as cakes. We keep on site, a comprehensive Food Allergen catalogue, which lists all of the ingredients we use in our products. If you need to know if allergens are contained in any of our products, please don’t hesitate to contact us before you book online or place a telephone order, or ask the staff on site. If you do have a food allergy, please advise us each and every time you come in – even if we have served you previously with specific products. This is important because the ingredients may have changed since last time you dined with us.
Note on Gluten Free food
We don’t offer a full Gluten Free range, however we do have some products available that don’t contain gluten by recipe, ie Gluten free bread, Jacket potatoes, Breakfasts, Chips and specific Toasted Sandwich fillings. We can also do Gluten Free Milkshakes (with vegan ice cream and fruit instead of chocolate) and of course Smoothies are Gluten Free.
Many of our hot foods are cooked in shared equipment and although we employ high standards of preparation that avoid cross-contamination in most of our toasted sandwiches and jacket potatoes, the cooking process for chips and breakfasts cannot eliminate this risk.

Here at Ginger Cow we take allergen information seriously and we understand the problems and the potential risks to customers with severe allergies. With that in mind, we have prepared this statement to clarify how we manage allergen information in our business.
Allergen Statement
Based on the 14 named allergens, we have assessed and documented the allergen content of each of our food types and we adhere to industry standard methods to avoid cross-contamination of allergens entering other food and drinks.
We employ reasonable endeavours both to keep our allergen information up to date as new food and drink ingredients are used, and to advise customers on ingredients contained within the foods that we prepare and provide. If you have an allergy, please be prepared for us to ask you in detail every time – even if you’ve been before (foods, cooking processes and allergies can change).
Our food is prepared on the premises and in a kitchen where chefs handle multiple menu items and where equipment and utensils are used for food and drink containing allergens. Although your meal is prepared with the utmost care, we cannot guarantee it will be completely allergen free, even after ingredients have been removed on request and even after avoiding cross-contamination.
Some of our menu items contain nuts, seeds and other allergens. There is a small risk that tiny traces of these may be in another dish or food served here. Therefore, we cannot guarantee any item is completely allergen free.
Guests with severe allergies will need to determine their own level of risk and combined with the information above and advice from our staff, must make their own decisions about whether to consume dishes at their own risk.
Product details have been prepared based on data from the suppliers of the products and/or ingredients. On occasions the actual product may differ from that shown and so whilst we have taken every care in preparing this summary and believe it to be accurate, we would recommend you ask if more precise information is required, or if you are in any doubt.
More information on the specific allergens can also be found on the UK Anaphylaxis website
